Talking Intelligent Trading with Andrew Delaney: Post-Holiday Blues?

Subscribe to our newsletter

Feeling like I need a holiday after our ‘energetic’ family getaway to Greece, we are taking stock of the exciting programme of activities we’ve lined up for the ‘fall’ season here at Intelligent Trading Technology. Simply put, there is a lot going on. So I thought it would be useful to go over some of it here before we actually start doing stuff.

Actually, we’ve already started. Coming soon to an email box near you (yours, in fact) will be an invitation to download our brand new Trading Regulation Handbook. Based on the same format as our Regulatory Data Handbook – A-Team’s biggest seller yet – the Trading Regulation Handbook will offer concise profiles of 25+ global regulations impacting deployment of technology in trading firms. (You can take a look at the Regulatory Data Handbook here.)

The idea is for a resource you can stash in your briefcase and pull out in meetings so you can look smart when the conversation turns to some obscure regulation or other. Each profile includes:

– At-a-glance description of regulation

– Key requirements

– Significant milestones

– Dates for diary

– Links for further information.

Sponsorship opportunities exist, so if you’re interested in joining the list of usual suspects when it comes to trading regulation solutions, get in touch. As I say, we’ll be distributing a ‘soft’ copy of the handbook via email and download, but we’re planning physical distribution at A-Team’s forthcoming events, so you may want to snag a hard copy at one of those.

Speaking of which, top of our list for autumn 2016 is the planned ITT Regulatory Breakfast Briefing, currently scheduled for late November/Early December in London. A targeted breakfast meeting with user-only (financial institution) audience by invitation only, the briefing will feature a keynote presentation by a prominent industry figure, plus two panel sessions looking at key regulatory challenges facing our industry.

Things kick off at 8am for breakfast/networking, ending with coffee and more networking at 10.30, so you can make it back to the office in time to deal with any emerging crises. We’re still working on the details, but get in touch if you’re interested in getting involved in speaking or sponsorship.

It’s also worth marking your diaries for two webinars we have scheduled in the next couple of months. The first – Countdown to MiFID II, on October 27 – looks at how the industry is progressing with their activities in addressing this wide-ranging regulation. What’s proving most thorny, what’s been achieved and what’s still to be done?

Then, on December 8, we’ll be looking at High-Performance Market Data Management Technologies, exploring the challenges and opportunities of managing market data using hardware acceleration, a deterministic approach to low latency connectivity, and in-memory and other high-speed databases. Once again, get in touch if you want to get involved.

This autumn will also see the launch of our inaugural Intelligent Trading Technology Awards. Modelled on our highly successful Data Management Awards, the ITT Awards will cover a unique range of relevant trading technology and electronic execution infrastructure categories.

Designed in conjunction with the Intelligent Trading Summit Advisory Panel of distinguished market practitioners, the awards will be announced at a sponsored drinks reception in the City of London on November 3.

Finally, looking beyond year-end, we’ll be working on the agendas for our Intelligent Trading Summits for 2017. As with this year, we’ll be offering a full conference format covering trading technologies and infrastructure, with events in London (February) and New York (June). Dates and rates are still to be finalised so watch this space.

As you can see, there’s a lot going on, and I’m sure we’ll come up with still more as we go along. The question now is whether I could squeeze a few days down in Bordeaux before things get too hectic… Now that’s an idea!
