Markit Appoints Managing Director of Equities And Index Operations

Markit, a leading, global financial information services company, today announced the appointment of Paul Grimes as Managing Director of Equities and Index Operations.

Grimes will be responsible for Markit’s equity and fixed income index operations and will also co-head Markit’s dividend forecast, index management and exchange traded fund (ETF) services, in partnership with Bernie Thurston, Director.

Niall Cameron, Executive Vice President of Markit, said: “Paul’s background in the market data and index industry will be very valuable to us as we grow our index business. As co-head of Markit Equities, he will look to develop our offering, most notably on the ETF and dividend front, to provide our clients with a unique insight into the global equity markets.”

Paul Grimes, Managing Director at Markit, said: “I am very pleased to join Markit and look forward to contributing to the company’s effort to grow its equity offering and enhance its operational infrastructure.”

Prior to joining Markit, Grimes ran his own business consultancy advising start up companies and developing intellectual property and commercial strategies for established businesses. A founding member of FTSE Group, he held various roles within the company, most recently as chief operating officer, and was responsible for key stakeholder relationships as well as global infrastructure and support functions.
