The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has named Jerome Powell, chair of the Federal Reserve System, as chair of the Global Economy Meeting and Economic Consultative Committee. He succeeds Mark Carney. John Williams, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, becomes chair of the BIS Consultative Council for the Americas. Sir Jon Cunliffe, deputy governor of the Bank of England, becomes chair of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures. Separately the BCBS selected François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France, as chair replacing Mario Draghi. ECB president Christine Lagarde becomes a BIS board member.
