Thomson Reuters Valuation Navigator Increases Transparency of Evaluated Pricing

Thomson Reuters has partnered with data analytics specialist Trovo to produce Thomson Reuters Valuation Navigator, a software solution that automates reference data and pricing workflows, and allows users to search and analyse data from a wide range of data sources, compare multiple pricing options and optimise valuation and risk activities.

The solution is data vendor agnostic and consolidates data from all kinds of sources that can then be searched using in-built search technology. The automation element is designed to reduce dependency on spreadsheet and manual valuation processes, and increase the ease and efficiency of making net asset value and profit and loss calculations. Data consolidation and reformatting, and the ability to integrate feeds directly into internal systems, increase transparency through the provision of access to market observable inputs and source data that supports evaluated pricing.

Valuation Navigator is integrated with Thomson Reuters DataScope Select, Elektron and other Thomson Reuters data services and can be delivered with a range of workflow customisations to meet particular business needs. To ensure the solution is vendor data agnostic, the software must be installed at a client site or hosted on an independent server that is accessible only to the client.

Jayme Fagas, global head, valuations and transparency for Thomson Reuters Pricing and Reference Services, explains: “Volumes of pricing and reference data delivered to customers go up every day, but it is difficult to navigate through so much data. Valuation Navigator is a response to customer demand for help at a time when regulators require transparency of data used in evaluated pricing. It streamlines data collection across all data vendor sources and other sources, and provides an efficient way to consume and gain insight into the data. Users have data transparency and insight into the market, which can help them achieve more accurate pricing.”

Fagas expects all organisations that hold assets and use pricing and valuation services to calculate net asset value and profit and loss to be interested in Valuation Navigator, and says one large fund administrator is in production with the software and a few others are in pre-production. Building out the solution, Thomson Reuters is developing additional rules-based software modules designed to support the asset valuation requirements of regulations such as IFRS 13 and Solvency II.
