Soliton Lays Off London Sales Head Jones

Toronto-based software developer Soliton has made the head of its UK sales operation redundant after just over a year in the job. Carl Jones, a former sales manager with Reuters, was hired to run the Soliton in March last year.

The departure comes less than two months after the company announced equity financing from Covington Capital Corporation and The B.E.S.T. Fund that it said would be used “to bolster the expansion of its sales and marketing programs in … New York, Boston and London markets”. Its European operations consist of technical operations in Coventry, and a sales office in Copenhagen.

Jones, who sold Reuters’ historical and reference data products during his 12 years with that company, declines to discuss his departure from the company. He is understood to be seeking alternative employment.
