Mana Partners Goes Live with Metamako Solutions for Better Investment Decisions

New York-based electronic trading and asset management firm Mana Partners has gone live with Metamako, using its network devices to provide cost-effective, nanosecond-level access to exchanges and gaining the ability to make better investment decisions.

Concentrating on quantitative and algorithmic asset management, Mana has implemented Metamako’s FPGA-based, Layer 1+ network devices running the MetaMux application. Designed specifically for latency-critical environments such as trading, the devices allow allows data fan-out and order aggregation in the fraction of the time of traditional switches. Since introducing 48-port Metamako switches to its colocated trading sites, Mana has seen latency savings of about 300 nanoseconds when sending trading messages from trading servers to exchanges.

Mana decided to employ Metamako solutions for a variety of reasons. These include not only the solutions’ low latencies, but also the company’s responsive technical support, feature-rich devices, integration with partner technologies such as Enyx, and industry reputation.

Brian Goldberg, senior vice president of engineering at Mana, says: “Metamako came highly recommended. During the testing process, it stood head and shoulders above the competition, delivering the exact latencies that were advertised and excelling in usability and its approach to technology innovation.”

Manoj Narang, CEO at Mana, adds: “The switch to Metamako has had a direct impact on us providing better investment decisions and improving the ROI we generate for clients through faster access to market data. We also benefit from continuous connection monitoring and full packet statistics.”

The company intends to grow its relationship with Metamako and is evaluating other Metamako devices that would allow it to run its own FPGA logic directly on the Metamako platform.
