ICE Integrates Acquired Data Assets to Deliver ICE Data Services

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has combined its proprietary exchange data with data and services acquired over the past few years to deliver ICE Data Services. The move results from the ongoing integration of Interactive Data, which was acquired in December 2015, and brings ICE into closer competition with Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg.

ICE Data Services pulls together proprietary data from 11 ICE and NYSE exchanges, the latter acquired when ICE bought NYSE Euronext in November 2013; evaluated pricing for 2.7 million securities and reference data for over 10 million instruments from Interactive Data; desktop and trading tools designed to meet customers’ workflow requirements; and connectivity solutions including the low-latency Secure Financial Transaction Infrastructure (SFTI) network that ICE acquired as part of the NYSE Euronext acquisition from NYSE Technologies.

Jeffrey Sprecher, ICE chairman and CEO, explains: “By combining our broad range of proprietary data services and analytics, we are able to offer clients a more complete, consolidated view of the markets. The integrated approach is consistent with our focus on providing neutral, efficient workflow solutions across markets in a dynamic market environment.”

ICE formed its first data subsidiary, ICE Data, in 2003 in response to demand for exchange data. Looking forward, it says it will continue to invest in data services to meet customer requirements driven by regulatory reform and market fragmentation, and growing demand for data capacity, security and independent valuations.
