EDM vendor GoldenSource has appointed ex-Reuters Indian enterprise head Shashank Mishra as national sales manager for India. Mishra will be based in GoldenSource’s Mumbai office and report to Hugh Stewart, vice president of sales for EMEA and Asia.

Before joining GoldenSource, Mishra worked at Reuters India as a sales specialist, where he managed enterprise business for South Asia. He has also held positions at Reliance Capital Asset Management, Metlife India, Travelex, OM Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance and Netherlands India Communication Enterprise.

GoldenSource indicates that it is hopeful that Asia will continue to see growth in the IT sector despite the poor global economic climate. It is pinning its hopes on India in particular, according to Stewart: “India, amongst other Asian countries, looks very promising for us. We have a solid new business pipeline for 2009 in the region. By adding a sales function to the existing development, support and services capabilities, Shashank will play a crucial role in helping us close the new business opportunities and in supporting our expansion plans for this important region.”
