Investment manager Capital Group has joined Plato Partnership, the not-for-profit with a focus on equity market structure and operations, as a founding buy-side member. The firm joins Plato’s ranks of buy-side members including Axa Investment Managers, Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, Fidelity International, Norges Bank Investment Management, Union Investment, Liontrust, Legal & General Investment Management, Janus Henderson, Invesco, Schroders, Allianz Global Investors, Schroder Investment Management and T. Rowe Price.

At the same time, Plato has named buy-side technology veteran Anita Karppi to its executive team. Over the course of her 20-years financial technology career, Karppi has held senior strategic positions at K&K Global Consulting, FlexTrade Systems, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Reuters (now Refinitiv). Most recently, she has been working with the Buy-side Trading Community.

Plato Partnership is a collaboration of buy- and sell-side firms with a mission to bring creative solutions and efficiencies to today’s equity marketplace. The group’s key aims are to reduce trading costs, simplify market structure, and to act as a champion for end investors. Central to this vision is Plato Partnership’s Market Innovator (MI3); a research fund that attempts to identify better ways of executing trades, as well as lowering the cost and improving the quality of the broad range of processes required to support the execution lifecycle.
