SIX Financial Information Adds Bloomberg Global Identifiers to Data Feeds

SIX Financial Information has incorporated Bloomberg Global Identifiers (BBGIDs) into its Valordata Feed and plans to do the same for its Market Data Feed, a development that adds Bloomberg Open Symbology to more than 30 security identification schemes already supported by the company.

BBGIDs are available immediately and at no extra cost within the Valordata near real-time reference data feed. The company is also incorporating the identifiers into its Market Data Feed, a real-time market data delivery service, and expects to have them in production by the end of February 2014, although individual client requests for the data may be met sooner.

Mirko Silvestri, head product manager at SIX Financial Information, says the addition of the Bloomberg identifiers to the data services follows the addition of regulatory data that was prioritised to help clients meet regulations such as the Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act and the requirements of financial transaction tax. He expects the Bloomberg data to improve clients’ data consistency and operational efficiency through more efficient mapping and cross-referencing of instruments.

Peter Warms, global product manager for entity content, corporate actions and symbology at Bloomberg, picks up this point, adding: “Adopting Bloomberg Symbology for some of its market data feeds will help SIX Financial Information and its customers enhance the interoperability of market systems and reduce operational costs.”
