Jan Stuart and Andy Shaw to Join Credit Suisse’s Commodities Research Group within Fixed Income Research

Credit Suisse today announced that Jan Stuart and Andy Shaw will join Credit Suisse’s Fixed Income Research Department as Head of Energy Research, and Head of Base Metals Research, respectively. Effective September 1, Mr. Stuart will be based in New York, while Mr. Shaw will be based in Singapore and join in late July. Both will report to Ric Deverell, Head of Commodities Research.

“We are delighted to welcome both Jan and Andy to Credit Suisse,” said Mr. Deverell. “They bring extensive industry expertise to their new roles, and will certainly help further develop and communicate our views on the commodity markets to clients.”

Eric Miller, Global Head of Fixed Income & Economic Research, added, “Together, these appointments underscore our ongoing commitment to Commodities Research, and our continued focus on expanding our service offerings across the Fixed Income Research franchise.”

Mr. Stuart joins from Macquarie Securities Group, where he was most recently the Co-Head of Global Commodities Research and Global Oil Economist and responsible for covering the Oil, Gas and Energy commodity sectors within Global Equity Research. Prior to that, he was the Global Oil Economist at UBS Securities and has also held research positions with Fimat USA and ABN Amro, Inc. Mr. Stuart holds an MA in International Relations from Boston University and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. He received a BA in International Affairs from the American University in Paris, France.

Mr. Shaw joins from BHP Billiton, where he held the position of Manager of Business Analysis. In this capacity, he managed market and industry analytical studies and led a specialist team responsible for market analysis of China across BHPB’s commodity spectrum. Mr. Shaw received an MSc in Mineral Exploration & Mining Geology and a BSc in Geology with Honours, both from the University of Leicester.
