FundGuard has won the award for Best Fund Accounting, Portfolio Management and Data Platform in A-Team Group’s Data Management Insight Awards Europe 2023. These annual awards recognise leading providers of data management solutions, services and consultancy to capital markets participants in Europe.

FundGuard’s cloud-native multi-book investment accounting platform was selected as an award winner by A-Team Group’s European data management community.

Erika Alter, Marketing Director at FundGuard, explains why and how the company’s award-winning solution was created, its use cases, and the benefits it can deliver.

A-Team: Please tell us about FundGuard and the types of clients the company works with in capital markets.

Erika: FundGuard is a cross-enterprise, all-in-one investment accounting solution for IBOR, ABOR and NAV contingency. The company’s fully digital big data, AI-powered, cloud-native operating model supports global asset managers, asset owners, custodian banks, fund administrators and other asset servicers in the management of their investment and accounting books across mutual funds and ETFs, alternatives, insurance, and pension products. We also integrate with other leading software, data and technology providers.

A-Team: What challenges are your customers facing at the moment?

Erika: The asset management industry is burdened by decades-old legacy technology that is no longer fit for purpose in the face of today’s data management and operational challenges, including data volumes, extensive global regulations, the emergence of new asset classes, and a shift in investor expectations.

While asset managers and their service providers are now more aligned than ever on the essential role of digitalisation, cloud technologies, and AI, they remain challenged by how best to determine the starting point and strategy for implementing these transformative technologies efficiently while minimising risk.

A-Team: How does FundGuard help customers address these challenges?

Erika: FundGuard is uniquely positioned in the marketplace to drive material FTE efficiencies, establish a consistent global accounting operating model, transform product offerings to be API-driven, cloud-based and real-time, and leverage financial and operational data to deliver meaningful insights and operational improvements, while limiting the transition costs and duration. Our combination of AI-powered, cloud-native, low-touch processing, coupled with a risk-limiting approach to transition, aligns well with firms looking for replacements of out-dated core systems processing in monolithic cycles.

A-Team: What are the benefits of implementing FundGuard’s platform?

Erika: Our team has firsthand financial services industry experience with expertise in operations and a wide array of functional, technical and project oriented subject matters. Our unparalleled technology expertise and unique tech stack enable us to onboard new customers in rapid implementations/conversions. Some of these capabilities include model client setups, out of the box adapters to market data providers, smart-automated customer data ingestion, and a full set of APIs and customisable library of reports.

A-Team: Finally, what does winning A-Team Group’s Europe award for best fund accounting, portfolio management and data platform mean to FundGuard?

Erika: We are especially honoured to receive this award because the selection of FundGuard comes directly from the industry. We are grateful to FundGuard’s clients, partners and prospective clients that voted for us. The support from our ecosystem reinforces our mutual commitment to innovation and collaboration, and our entire team is heartened by the recognition.
