Bloomberg Makes B-PIPE Feed Available in AWS Cloud

Moving with the current trend towards cloud-based services, Bloomberg has made its B-PIPE real-time market data feed available via Amazon Web Services (AWS). The move expands the delivery options available to Bloomberg clients, which now include on-premise, hosted and cloud.

Cloud-based delivery of market data services holds the promise of reducing local on-premise processing requirement, allowing practitioners to reallocate those resources to focus upon deriving insights and analytics from data in a secure, scalable, and cost-effective way to make business decisions. B-PIPE clients can now use a common API to deploy a single application without the restrictions surrounding storage limitations.

According to Tony McManus, chief information officer for Bloomberg’s enterprise data department, “The capital markets are nearing a tipping point for cloud adoption. This is increasingly true for front-office applications where the cloud can provide reliability without the high cost of managing servers or the performance limitations of internet-based connections. With efficient data delivery, a core pillar of our business, making B-PIPE available on the cloud is our first step in meeting customer demand. With easier access to quality market data on the cloud, clients can focus on generating value from data rather than installing and managing dedicated infrastructure.”
