Ahead of Tokenised Securities Trading, NYSE Expands Roster of Authorised Transfer Agents

In preparation for the launch of its tokenised security trading platform and affiliate venue, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has expanded the roster of companies authorised to provide transfer agent services for digital assets.

Joining Securitize and tZERO, which have already entered into agreements with the NYSE, are Broadridge Financial Solutions, Computershare, Equiniti and Superstate.

The new affiliate venue will support transactions involving both third-party custodial tokens and issuer sponsored tokenised securities. Both token types are fungible with traditionally issued securities, so entities who hold tokenised shares will get the same dividends and governance rights as other shareholders. The venue is built around established market structure principles, with distribution via non-discriminatory access to all participating broker-dealers

The expanded transfer agent group includes both digital-native and established providers. Securitize, Superstate, and tZERO bring blockchain-native infrastructure, on-chain recordkeeping, and digital asset expertise. Computershare, Equiniti, and Broadridge bring decades of transfer agent experience, long-standing issuer relationships, and operational scale.

“This announcement continues the NYSE’s long history of reimagining market infrastructure through thoughtful and deliberate innovation. Our priority remains protecting and upholding market integrity through every technological advancement, and we are thrilled to partner with like-minded organisations as we shape the future of finance, ” says Lynn MartinPresident, NYSE Group.

The new digital platform will enable tokenised trading, including 24/7 operations, instant settlement, orders sized in dollar amounts, and stablecoin-based funding. Its design combines the NYSE’s Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based post-trade systems, including the capability to support multiple chains for settlement and custody.

In the US securities markets, transfer agents serve as the official, registered “source of truth” for a corporation’s share ownership records. They maintain the master registry of shareholders, tracking who owns how many shares and their contact information. They further support securities operations by cancelling old shares and issuing new ones during market trades, coordinating directly with theDepository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)to clear and settle transactions electronically. Additionally, transfer agents act as intermediaries between the issuer and its investors by distributing cash and stock dividends, facilitating annual proxy voting, and managing complex corporate actions such as stock splits, mergers, and acquisitions.

Indeed, the NYSE will leverage Broadridge’s governance smart contracts, connecting tokenised securities to meeting agendas, voting rules, and verifiable results. The framework supports proxy material distribution and digital wallet authentication linked to verified voting entitlements, helping investors exercise their shareholder rights as ownership moves on chain. Investors can participate in Broadridge’s on-chain governance services through supported wallets, broker interfaces or ProxyVote, based on their preferences.

The six transfer agents offered the following remarks:

“As a tokenisation leader processing more than $360 billion in assets every day, we are excited to support the NYSE’s tokenisation initiatives. Broadridge’s horizontal governance layer and integrated digital and traditional transfer agency services and simplifies complexity for issuers irrespective of where their shares are tokenised and held,” says Tim GokeyCEO, Broadridge.

“The evolution of capital markets depends on combining innovation with the trust, resilience and investor protections that issuers and shareholders expect. As the first transfer agent to offer Issuer-Sponsored Tokens, we are pleased to be working with the NYSE on this initiative and believe ISTs have the potential to expand choice while maintaining the high standards of governance, transparency and shareholder servicing that underpin modern markets,” says Ann BoweringCEO, Issuer Services, North America, Computershare

“Tokenisation has the potential to moderni e how securities are issued, held and transferred, while preserving the protections and rights that issuers and shareholders rely on today. We’re proud to work with the NYSE to bring Equiniti’s transfer agent expertise, issuer relationships and operational scale to this next generation of market infrastructure,” says Dan KramerCEO, Equiniti

“Bringing capital markets on chain requires collaboration across the financial industry. We were proud to be selected as NYSE’s first digital transfer agent and a premier design partner in developing the infrastructure for tokenised securities. Expanding the ecosystem is an important step toward making tokenised securities a core part of how capital markets operate. We look forward to continuing our work with NYSE to build the next generation of market infrastructure,” says Carlos DomingoChairman and CEO, Securitize

“We’re proud to work with the New York Stock Exchange to modernise how securities trade, settle, and move. Tokenisation is a partnership between issuers, transfer agents, and exchanges, and that future is happening today,: says Robert LeshnerCEO, Superstate

“The NYSE’s approach to tokenised securities represents an important step toward bringing blockchain-based infrastructure into mainstream financial markets. As a pioneer in tokenisation and regulated digital asset infrastructure, tZERO brings deep experience in supporting the issuance, ownership and transfer of tokenised securities – including the digital transfer agent regulated layer and proprietary technology. We look forward to working with the NYSE to help build the infrastructure that will enable issuers and investors to realise the benefits of tokenisation at scale,” says Alan KonevskyCEO, tZERO.

The NYSE has not announced a confirmed launch date for the tokenised securities venue, which is dependent on regulatory approval.
