About Tibco’s Acquisition of StreamBase

For those that have not heard, Tibco Software has acquired StreamBase Systems. Sure, the deal adds complex event processing to messaging, and if it had happened a few years back that probably would have been the story. But while low(-er) latency is part of many data integration plays these days, the driver for this marriage is known in tech marketing terms as ‘big data in motion’.

Of course, we here at Low-Latency.com have been pounding the convergence drum for some time. That’s convergence of low-latency technologies with big data approaches, both of which Tibco and StreamBase have good insights into. Throw in some cloud delivery – which Tibco has at least to some extent – and the combo should be well positioned to address the financial markets need for intelligent trading, as well as many applications in the world beyond finance.
