Andrew’s Blog – NYSE’s Schaedel Heads for the Beach

Subscribe to our newsletter

I was sad to hear of Mark Schaedel’s departure from NYSE Euronext, where he has been head of market data for the past several years. Schaedel, based in Amsterdam, has been leading a bunch of innovative projects there, aiming to tap into the wealth of meta-data the exchange generates as a byproduct of its ‘market’ pricing and reference data.

Schaedel tells me he’s headed for the beach, so I can’t be that sad, and I expect to be back with something interesting in the not-too-distant future.

His role will be taken over by a deputy, according to reports. They are big shoes to fill. Schaedel himself followed a couple of high achievers who ran NYSE market data for as long as I can remember: Ron Jordan, now chief data officer at DTCC, and the legendary Tom Haley, who is enjoying a well-deserved retirement.
