XSP has announced that Dan Retzer, the company’s managing director and chief technology officer, will present as workshop keynote speaker at the Society of Design and Process Sciences (SDPS) 2009 Conference on Wednesday, 4 November 2009 at Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama.

Retzer will be speaking on the integrated approach to software build, test and release management, focusing on tools and practical software engineering techniques that can be combined into an automated approach for delivering quality software. He will share his XSP successes in defining this process, designing the systems and fine tuning the management of these systems. The session will also cover the applicability of these systems and processes to account for technology advancements, software product architecture changes, offshore/onshore development teams and migration to the ‘cloud’ environment.

The vision and scope of the SDPS is to be a catalyst for change, enabling the discovery of new approaches that lead to alternative solutions for the increasingly complex problems that face civilization. As the impact of software in the sciences, engineering and business play an increasingly central role, the metadiscipline nature of software development, management and engineering are realised. The “On Integration: Software as a Product of Transdiscipline” workshop encourages an interchange of ideas among researchers, educators and learners in ways that will influence transdisciplinary education, research and applications at all levels.

Murat Tanik, board member of SDPS and professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, said: “Transdisciplinarity can be defined as: at once between the disciplines, across the different disciplines, and beyond each individual discipline. Technology leaders like Dan, who are at ease in many modes of thinking and operating, are regarded as Transdisciplinarians. We approached Dan to speak at this conference because of his knowledge and experiences in meeting the demands of his clients. XSP supports the vision of the SDPS and is a company that encourages and fosters research and development to advance the discipline of design and process science. Dan is an excellent candidate to discuss how technology companies can help transform and lead businesses in the 21st century.”

“SDPS continues to play a critical role in the future of technology,” commented Retzer. “This organisation brings together brilliant minds in Software Engineering, Development and Design and Process Sciences. I am truly honoured to have the opportunity to share my perspective and experiences at XSP on the role of technology in today’s society, while leading the ongoing advancement of compelling technologies – such as Cloud Computing – for the future.”

As chief technology officer at XSP, Retzer is responsible for all technology operations, including the software development lifecycle, project management, product management, and IT/systems management. His involvement in the transformation of XSP – from domestic provider to global leader – has been as principal decision maker on technology and product architecture initiatives. Retzer’s role involves strengthening XSP’s partnerships with other premier, global corporations and organisations – including Microsoft and Swift – as well as recognising worldwide technology trends in financial services and guiding XSP’s technology strategy to meet those trends.
