Fincad Upgrades Analytics Suite with Extended Asset Class Coverage

Fincad has launched a new version of its Analytics Suite for 2009, with extended asset class coverage of structured products including trigger swaps, Brazilian FRNs, Altiplano options and snowrange instruments. The vendor says the upgrade is aimed at meeting the valuations and risk analytics needs of financial institutions in the current financial environment.

Fincad Analytics Suite 2009 is available as an Excel based solution or a software development kit, allowing users to embed Fincad analytics into their enterprise application.

Bob Park, president and CEO of Fincad, explains that the vendor has expedited the ability to create custom workbook solutions and market data integration with a view to making all Fincad calibration workbooks easier to use. He says that the vendor is committed to spending 30% of its revenues on research every year to meet its clients’ needs.

To this end, the vendor is also developing a workbook to calculate credit value adjustment (CVA), which it says is to further enable users to meet FAS 157 requirements.

The vendor is one of a host of risk analytics and valuations vendors in the space that is vying for the attention of financial institutions, which have been put under public and regulatory scrutiny with regards to risk management. The arms race to increase product coverage and functionality is likely to continue over the course of 2009 and it will be interesting to see how the various upgrades and partnerships affect the market share of these, often niche, vendors.
