Upcoming Webinar: The Data Office at a Crossroads — AI Governance, Organisational Design, and the Evolving Mandate of the CDO
Date: 28 July 2026
Time: 10:00am ET / 3:00pm London / 4:00pm CET
Duration: 50 minutes
Who owns AI governance in a capital markets firm – and is the Data Office structured to bear that weight?
These questions sit at the heart of A-Team Research’s latest findings, presented here for the first time: the combined results of two landmark surveys examining the role of the Data Office in AI governance and its composition and strategic mandate within the financial markets enterprise. Together, they paint a detailed picture of an institution under pressure – expected to govern increasingly autonomous technology with teams built for a different era.
This webinar marks a milestone for A-Team Research, the practitioner-led initiative launched by A-Team Group in partnership with Element 22 to serve senior data professionals in capital markets. The service was built with a clear purpose: a community- driven research programme focused specifically on the Office of the CDO, drawing insights directly from the professionals living these challenges. The two surveys presented here are among its first outputs, combining A-Team Group’s practitioner network with Element 22’s analytical rigour to produce a dataset that is both candid and operationally specific.
Attendees will hear structured analysis across four defining themes:
- How AI governance accountability is being allocated – or disputed – between the Data Office, Risk, Technology, and the business;
- How organisational positioning affects the Data Office’s ability to govern AI
effectively; - Where the most critical gaps exist between what CDOs are asked to deliver and what their teams are resourced to do; and
- How peers are approaching data lineage, model risk, and explainability as regulatory expectations tighten.
Participants will leave with a clear benchmarking view of where their organisation stands relative to the market.
This session is part of A-Team Research’s ongoing programme of expert briefings for members, who receive access to survey reports, research notes, and practitioner briefings throughout the year – all focused on the data leadership agenda in capital markets.
