Upcoming Webinar: The Buy-side Trading Desk of the Future
Date: 23 September 2026
Time: 10:00am ET / 3:00pm London / 4:00pm CET
Duration: 50 minutes
The buy-side trading desk is facing a structural reckoning. Decades of siloed systems for equities, FX and fixed income have created what COOs increasingly describe as a “silo tax” – duplicated headcount, fragmented data, and operational overhead that is harder to justify now that the underlying workflows have, in functional terms, converged. Thirty years of standardisation – FIX, central clearing, the spread of RFQ – has produced a common functional playbook beneath stacks that often remain stubbornly asset-specific.
That convergence is also what makes AI in execution viable for the first time. The emerging answer is the agentic overlay: an AI layer that sits on top of unified, multi-asset workflows and translates a trader’s natural language instruction into the structured execution processes beneath – selecting protocol, venue and counterparty, and capturing the post-trade record. Trading comes full circle, from voice on the floor, to structured electronic tickets, to natural language again.
Drawing on the findings of a recent LSEG-commissioned white paper, this A-Team Group webinar will examine what the trading desk of the future looks like, why common infrastructure is the prerequisite for deploying an agentic overlay reliably, and what buy-side firms need to do now to position for the next three to five years.
Key Topics to be Covered:
- The silo tax in practice: where duplicated headcount, systems and data across asset classes are constraining operating performance, and how COOs are building the business case for consolidation.
- Thirty years of convergence: how FIX, central clearing and RFQ crossed asset-class boundaries to create a common functional playbook across equities, FX and fixed income – and what this means for AI readiness.
- The agentic overlay defined: how an AI layer on top of unified workflows translates natural language instructions into structured, regulated execution, without replacing incumbent OMS, EMS and OEMS infrastructure.
- Where AI is adding value across the trade lifecycle today, from research and pre-trade analysis through execution support to post-trade analytics, and how integration deepens as common infrastructure matures.
- Practical preparation for 2026 and beyond: auditing the capability matrix across asset classes, closing the gaps that represent both operational risk and barriers to AI deployment, and reshaping the role of the human trader.
This webinar is for buy-side COOs, heads of trading, execution heads, and trading technology leaders responsible for multi-asset desk strategy, OMS/EMS/OEMS infrastructure and AI deployment.
