Talking Reference Data with Andrew Delaney: Doing the DMS Rounds

Subscribe to our newsletter

Such was the success of our Data Management Summit last month that I have had my arm severely twisted and – under duress – have agreed to host another event in the autumn. We’ll be holding DMS – same time, same place – on October 3, so if you missed us last time around you’ll have the chance to see what all the fuss was about.

Well, sort of. With the world of enterprise data and all its facets – the LEI, valuations data, regulatory requirements, corporate actions automation, utility models, high-performance data management technologies – changing at an unprecedented rate, October’s DMS promises to be significantly different from March’s.

Which is why I’m going to be spending the next couple of months doing the proverbial rounds with my practitioner contacts, drawing on their experiences of life at the coal face to identify the hot topics for the October event.

I expect there to be a strong technology element, as we see creative new business models emerging that can explore IT solutions heretofore considered to risky or otherwise cutting-edge for the mundane business of enterprise data. Lots of talk about managed/hosted services, cloud and Big Data, and we can expect to see some real-world examples discussed by people who have implemented them.

The world of entity data will figure prominently, as the rollout of the global LEI standard gathers pace. We expect concerns about incoming regulations – Solvency II anyone? – to drive some impassioned discussions. Indeed, the opportunity for standardised regulatory data integration across the enterprise, risk aggregation, true enterprise data management – not merely the limited-scope ‘EDM’ espoused by many – will all feature in our programme.

I tell you all this so that you’re prepared when I call to pick your brain – on topics, speakers, panellists, choice of red wine at the reception.

I’ll be in touch.
