Talking Intelligent Trading with Andrew Delaney: Getting Smart at ITS New York

I’m thrilled that the agenda for our Intelligent Trading Summit on May 13 in New York is emerging as a match for our new editorial ‘agenda’ here at Intelligent Trading Technology.

As you know, we are progressing at pace through our expansion of the remit, from pure low-latency infrastructures to a broader view of how to differentiate trading capabilities. To achieve the latter, we believe, financial institutions will need to embrace high-performance analytics, drawing upon Big Data technologies where appropriate, to meet increasingly stringent risk and regulatory demands.

Building an intelligent trading architecture to cater to this is no mean feat. As he did in London, Alessandro Petroni, Senior Principal Architect, Financial Services, TIBCO Software, will give the morning keynote address outlining his blueprint for An Architecture for Intelligent Trading.

We’ll be following Alessandro’s presentation with a panel discussion of the topic. He’ll be joined by Gil Tene, CTO and Co-Founder, Azul Systems, as well as one or more practitioners who are currently getting approvals.

The day’s keynote comes from Steve Grob, Director of Group Strategy, Fidessa. He’ll be offering his Vision for Intelligent Trading in the 21st Century. Steve will walk through ongoing changes in market structure and regulatory landscape, and discuss the industry response.

Later panels will really hit the nail on the head as far as future direction of the industry goes. At 11.15, the On-Demand Agility for Trading, Risk and Enterprise Analytics panel will look at attempts to model and test approaches to developed data-intensive trading and risk strategies in accelerated time.

Panelists Roman Chwyl of IBM, Brian Sentence of Xenomorph, Craig Kravetz of Datawatch and Frank Greco of Kaazing will discuss real-life applications and requirements, and suggest the best technical architecture and delivery paradigm to support them.

At 2pm, the panel on Technology Advances for High Performance Trading and Analytics will consider recent technology innovation at both the hardware platform and system software level in order to reduce latency for compute-based trading and support big data analytics. Moderator A-Team’s Pete Harris will be joined by David Power of Bios IT, and Joe Landman of Scalable Informatics, as well as by a representative of Intel.

In between, there’ll be the usual ‘staple’ sessions on latency reduction and managed services. To wrap things up, our old friend Mike Mayhew of Integrity Research Associates will lead a discussion on data-driven research methods and how these are being used to advance new trading analytics.
