CQG Hires to Bolster Asia Pacific Presence
CQG, a provider of technology solutions for traders, brokers, commercial hedgers and exchanges, has announced that Benjamin Soong has joined the firm as president, APAC, and Rick Chang as head of Greater China. Rod Giffen, formerly CQG president, APAC, takes the new role of chief experience officer. Soong joins CQG from Ledger, where he was head of Asia Pacific. He previously spent 12 years at S&P Global Market Intelligence. Chang also joins from Ledger, where he served as head of commercial and operations in Asia Pacific. At CQG, he will report to Soong and oversee growth in Greater China.
Pirum Expands SFTR Team as April Deadline Approaches
Automated reconciliations provider Pirum Systems has bolstered its SFTR team with the hire of of industry experts Glenn Baldwin, Payal Lakhani, James Cosh, and Pradeep Rana. Baldwin joins from JP Morgan with 15 years of securities finance expertise. Lakhani was formerly with Citi, while Cosh spent 20 years in roles at Deutsche Bank, Nomura, Lehman Brothers and Saxo Bank. Rana spent seven years at JP Morgan as a PB Client Service Manager. Pirum’s joint SFTR solution in partnership with IHS Markit has over 60 clients already mandated, with a further 20 expected to give the green light this month.
Indigita Appoints Achille Deodato as CEO
Swiss regtech firm Indigita has announced Achille Deodato as its new CEO. Leading teams based in Geneva, Zurich and Lisbon, Deodato will be responsible for the future development of the firm’s digital cross-border compliance solutions. He joins Indigita from a Zurich-based electronic identity solution provider, where he held the role of chief operating officer. He was formerly senior project manager at a consulting company, and chief commercial officer in a Geneva-based bank. Indigita is owned by swiss regulatory risk management firm BRP Bizzozero & Partners.
FRM22 Hires Steve Sparke As Non-Exec Director
Software tech firm KRM22 today announced the appointment of Steve Sparke as a Non-Executive Director of the Company. He will replace Matt Reed, Independent Non-Executive Director, who is stepping down to focus on other business commitments. Steve was recently COO of Marex Spectron where he was responsible for the firm’s operating environment. During his time at Marex, he transformed the firm’s operating model to become Europe’s largest independent commodity broker. Sparke is currently non-executive Chairman of FIA European Advisory Board and has held board positions at FIA Washington and NYSE Euronext LIFFE (now ICE Europe).
Redline Hires Andrij Wowkodaw as Global Head of FX Exchange
Redline Trading Solutions, a provider of high-performance market data and order execution systems for automated trading, has named Andrij Wowkodaw as global head of foreign exchange. Wowkodaw brings over 15 years of buy-side and sell-side electronic and algorithmic trading experience to Redline. Most recently, he was director of eFX quantitative analysis at Scotiabank. Before that, Wowkodaw held trading and portfolio management roles at AXE Capital Management, Eagleview Capital Partners, First New York Securities,
and Millennium Partners.
Finastra Hires CDO to Lead Data Product Roadmap
Finastra has hired Lisa Fiondella as chief data officer to lead data strategy. She is responsible for developing a data product roadmap and managing the process of bringing new data products to market based on data mined from the company’s FusionFabric.cloud platform and cloud-based solutions. Fiondella has experience spanning data, analytics, financial services, product management, product development, marketing, sales and operations. She most recently served as vice president of analytic products for Experian.
Luminex Adds Financial and Technology Professionals
Luminex Trading & Analytics, a buy side-owned trading venue delivering efficient, low-cost block executions, has hired three financial and technology professionals to meet growing engagement with its platform by its community of investment management firms. Joshua Reed has joined as a sales and relationship manager, Joshua Opper as director of infrastructure, and Robin Burr as a software engineer. Since launch in November 2015, trading among Luminex’s participants has grown steadily.
AxiomSL Appoints Claudia Thurner As EMEA General Manager
AxiomSL, a provider of regulatory reporting and risk management solutions, has announced the appointment of Claudia Thurner as EMEA General Manager. Thurner joins from SmartStream, Technologies where she led European and Latin American Sales and Global Strategic Accounts. Previously, she was at Thomson Reuters based in Europe, Asia, and the US where she specialised in risk management business and product development. Ed Royan, previously General Manager for EMEA, has moved to a new position as Head of Global Products.
Finantix Adds Senior Hires to Swiss Team
Finantix, a technology provider to wealth management, insurance and banking, has made two senior hires to its Swiss team. Albert Iselin joins as executive director for DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and Anja de Troyer joins as client product manager. Both have a remit to support and grow the firm’s presence in the region. Iselin joins Finantix from Avaloq, where he spent 14 years in various roles, while de Troyer joins with more than 20 years of industry experience including strategic and business consultancy. The Venice headquartered company recently extended its presence across Asia-Pacific and in other parts of Europe.
All Change at the Bank for International Settlements
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has named Jerome Powell, chair of the Federal Reserve System, as chair of the Global Economy Meeting and Economic Consultative Committee. He succeeds Mark Carney. John Williams, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, becomes chair of the BIS Consultative Council for the Americas. Sir Jon Cunliffe, deputy governor of the Bank of England, becomes chair of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures. Separately the BCBS selected François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France, as chair replacing Mario Draghi. ECB president Christine Lagarde becomes a BIS board member.
