Caplin Systems has appointed Steve Charlesworth as Chief Technology Officer, taking responsibility for the company’s technology strategy as it expands its institutional trading solutions into new asset classes and markets.
Charlesworth brings nearly 20 years of experience in electronic FX trading technology, having held positions at UBS, BBVA, Morgan Stanley and Crédit Agricole CIB, alongside vendor roles at Thomson Reuters, EBS and smartTrade Technologies. His experience spans pricing engines, single-dealer platforms, FIX APIs and regulatory technology, including MiFID II. He also founded Papaver Software, developing compliance software for the UK’s Making Tax Digital programme.
In his new role, Charlesworth will focus on developing AI-enabled low-code/no-code tools for institutional electronic trading businesses, supporting faster product development and delivery.
The appointment comes as Caplin broadens its fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) capabilities through a new Product Innovation Group. The company recently launched a white-label digital asset trading solution for institutional clients.
