Omgeo, the global standard for post-trade efficiency, today announced that Steve Matthews has been named chief operating officer (COO) to lead the product, client operations and technology functions at Omgeo. In addition, Pete Friel, former vice president of US Service operations at NYSE/Euronext, joins Omgeo as executive director of service availability.

In his new role as COO, Steve will focus on furthering Omgeo’s strategy of enhancing the client experience and driving increased value by continuing to advance Omgeo’s technology architecture and infrastructure while further enhancing the product lifecycle and promoting the highest levels of service reliability and support. Steve formerly served as managing director of product, where he was responsible for Omgeo’s product strategy as well as strategically aligning new initiatives and prioritising solution-based investments within the firm.

Pete Friel, as executive director of service availability, will oversee efforts to continue to bolster the availability of Omgeo’s global suite of services to ensure it is at the highest levels possible. Prior to Omgeo, Pete spent over 28 years at NYSE/Euronext, where he most recently focused on IT operations and data centre migration. In that role, Pete was responsible for all phases of the migration of core applications to the new US-based NYSE data centre.

Marianne Brown, CEO of Omgeo, commented, “Our two most urgent priorities at Omgeo are continuing to drive increased client satisfaction and promoting even greater levels of service availability. By appointing Steve as our new COO and Pete as our executive director of service availability, Omgeo is well positioned to continue to improve the efficiency and reliability of our product development cycle, while maintaining the highest levels of customer service.”

Matthews said, “I look forward to working with the product, client operations and technology teams at Omgeo. Omgeo continues to focus on introducing new product functionality to our clients swiftly and efficiently and guaranteeing the highest levels of service availability. I am proud to be part of such an engaged and committed team.”

Friel added, “I am excited to be joining Omgeo and its team, who have continually demonstrated their dedication to delivering indispensable products to the industry. I understand the trust and confidence that the community invests in Omgeo, and I look forward to working with all of Omgeo’s functions to further raise the bar on our service reliability.”
