JonesTrading Institutional Services LLC, a leading brokerage firm, which provides institutions with global block trading across a range of instruments, announced today the appointment of Jack Garceau as Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Garceau joins the firm at a critical time in its growth. Over the course of the last year JonesTrading has expanded in both asset classes and regions served. The new position is designed to architect and implement a range of programs covering internal technologies across a variety of functions, as well as to develop greater efficiencies in JonesTrading’s interactions with clients.

This is the first is a series of strategic appointments the firm is poised to make in the coming months. Despite the general downturn in financial services, JonesTrading anticipates that the firm will continue to grow and it is expanding its personnel to resource for this anticipated growth.

Mr. Garceau brings over two decades of financial services and technology experience to the position. He has spent the past thirteen years at Fidessa group plc where he served in a number of senior positions. Most recently, as Head of Business Development, he was instrumental in defining product strategy to insure that products reflected the needs of clients and that the firm provided innovative solutions to the marketplace. He also successfully launched Fidessa’s EMS business in the U.S. His technology experience includes stints with SunGard and Bloomberg L.P. His trading experience includes work at OppenheimerFunds, Inc. in equities, and Chicago Corp in commodities.

Said Packy Jones, JonesTrading’s Chairman and CEO: “JonesTrading continues to grow despite the current turmoil in the financial markets because we provide clients with quality execution in a trading environment rooted in expertise and trust. This approach and these principles have served us well for over 35 years. As we continued to grow our business, it is now appropriate that we take a strategic approach to technology ideas and issues. We are building technology to assure that we have in place a sophisticated foundation for continued success. Jack Garceau brings the right combination of expertise and experience and understands our goals. He will fully design and implement technology that will serve both our traders and clients.”

Said Jack Garceau: “JonesTrading represents a genuine alternative to current trading mechanisms by combining an essential relationship approach backed by best of breed technology. As we grow the business, I look forward to working with my colleagues at JonesTrading to secure the infrastructure required to accommodate both the internal strategic goals and the external growth.”
