Information Mosaic’s Hartlage Discusses its BI Analytics and Client Portal Offerings

Information Mosaic has been gradually adding to its arsenal of post-trade automation solutions, the latest of which is its IMConnecting offering, which aims to provide users with a customisable client portal via which to view custody related, proxy voting and corporate actions data. Ken Hartlage, head of product management and marketing for the vendor, explains that although it continues to service the corporate actions processing space (for which it is best known), Information Mosaic is a “multi-product company” that is building up its range of modular solutions for the post-trade environment overall.

Hartlage describes IMConnecting as a “client experience tool” that is primarily aimed at the investment banking, private wealth management, asset management and investor servicing sectors. It sits alongside other offerings, such as IMSurveillance and IMAnalytics, in a modular fashion, thus allowing those that have implemented one or more of those solutions to implement another module easily.

“IMConnecting is based on web 2.0 technology and is aimed at improving firms’ operational efficiency as well as reducing risk by providing a next generation user experience,” explains Hartlage. These users include institutional clients, internal front office clients and shareholders, all of who can receive alerts, notifications, reports, client communications and proxy voting results via the interface. In a more proactive fashion, they can also analyse and value portfolios, instruct on corporate actions data and vote electronically, claims the vendor.

The modular solution, however, is only one of the offerings that Information Mosaic is promoting, its business intelligence analytics tool IMAnalytics is another key focus for the team. Hartlage explains that the tool has been refined specifically for the securities industry’s requirements and a number of data indexes and template reports have been built into the system to enable operations analysts to produce reports more easily. He notes that a lot of energy has gone into bolstering this solution and the vendor will hopefully be announcing a new client for it soon.

The vendor also launched IMSurveillance back in October last year with much fanfare and Hartlage is keen to talk up the information aggregation and analysis tool’s potential to help firms manage post-trade risk in the current environment of regulatory scrutiny. He also describes it as “back office agnostic” in that it can sit alongside other technology platforms and systems, rather than requiring a rip and replace approach.

“IMSurveillance allows for the monitoring of risks such as sovereign risk, issuer risk, transaction risk and financial intermediary risk, among others, and allows users to assign risk ratings to this data in order to flag up any developments. It also provides the ability to drill down into the underlying data, such as holdings data, for regulatory reporting purposes,” he elaborates.
