GoldenSource Develops Packaged Solutions for Data Management Tasks

GoldenSource is responding to market demand for quick and easy to use data management solutions with out-of-the-box products. The company’s first packaged product is GoldenSource Insight, a real-time graphical dashboard and data visualisation solution powered by Information Builders’ WebFocus platform and pre-configured with chart and report templates that integrate with the company’s enterprise data management (EDM) platform.

The dashboard is designed for both business and operational users, and provides functionality including exposure analysis for real-time views and reports of risk and exposure, exception management for fast assessment of potential problems and quick fixes, and data governance for consolidated views of data quality, coverage and completeness. Information can be sliced and diced, and users can take action on information by drilling through to the GoldenSource EDM platform. They can also use the dashboard remotely, perhaps creating reports for customers on an Apple iPad.

According to Stephen Engdahl, senior vice resident of product strategy for GoldenSource, “Operations and executive staff require self-service capabilities to get answers to their questions about exposure, data quality and governance. GoldenSource Insight provides a clear, easy way for business users to effectively analyse processes, positions and risks, which improves transparency and enables many regulatory requirements to be met efficiently.”

GoldenSource has long offered enquiry tools for the EDM platform, but went to market early this year in search of a vendor that could underpin a dashboard approach to data management. It selected Information Builders as WebFocus uses architecture that is in line with its own, the platform met all requirements and as a global company Information Builders can support GoldenSource wherever it has presence. The outcome of the selection is an agreement allowing GoldenSource to embed and resell the WebFocus product. GoldenSource started building Insight in March, tested it in June and took it to market at the end of August.

Engdahl says both existing clients and GoldenSource EDM prospects are interested in the dashboard and while none have yet signed up he expects early clients to be among asset managers and banks that have strong operational practices around data. With one packaged solution in the market and indications that GoldenSource will soon offer a hosted version of the EDM platform, Engdahl suggests more packaged products will be released this year, some as early as later this month.
