FactSet Acquires Fixed Income Software Provider Derivative Solutions

FactSet Research Systems has acquired all the outstanding capital stock of Derivative Solutions for $42.5 million in cash and approximately $11 million in shares, totalling around $53.5 million. This is 5.4 times the company’s revenues in 2004, and about four times anticipated 2005 revenues. Derivative Solutions, founded in 1991, provides fixed income analytics, portfolio management, risk management and performance attribution solutions.
The deal was initiated by M&A firm Marlin & Associates, founded by Ken Marlin, previously of Telekurs Financial, Telesphere and Bridge Information Systems which acted as exclusive advisor to Derivative Solutions.
