EuroMTS Adds More Data and Functionality to Reference Data Platform

European fixed income securities marketplace, EuroMTS, has added more data and functionality to its online reference data platform, which it launched in collaboration with Exchange Data International (EDI) in October last year. The offering, aimed at providing descriptive, non-real-time information relating to all bonds listed on the MTS Markets, now features MTS Time Series data, says Rafah Hanna, head of MTS Data.

The MTS Time Series data is high frequency historical data sourced directly from the benchmark MTS trading platform. The addition of this data is aimed at significantly increasing the range of non real-time data available via the website, mtsreferencedata.com, where MTS Reference Data and MTS Reference Prices are already distributed to subscribers globally.

“Following strong demand from end users for an easy, cost effective way of accessing non real-time data, high value MTS Data products are being distributed via the internet to meet these request and offer the best solution, especially for those end users who may not have access to a data vendor service” claims Hanna.

The data on the platform is sourced directly from EuroMTS and is complemented by data from EDI’s fixed income database, says Hanna. “We have previously not provided a reference data product and, whilst it may have been possible to gather this information from a number of disparate sources, there were a number of holes in the data and, for the end user, it was very time consuming.”

The web-based service includes configurable search functions and allows the results to be downloaded. Additional functionality includes allowing users to predefine the list of bonds they are interested in and receive emails alerting users when changes occur in the data relating to these bonds. The data now covers more than 1,500 government bonds in 21 markets and includes detailed information for every bond listed on the MTS trading platform. Histories of MTS Reference Data and MTS Reference Prices are also available.

Jonathan Bloch, CEO of EDI, says: “The addition of the MTS Time Series to the MTS Data products demonstrates EDI’s continuing commitment to providing benchmark reference data products to the market.”

Hanna is confident that the service will continue to attract custom from the market and reckons this type of service is more flexible than others out there. He believes the internet provides a cost effective manner by which to deliver such a solution. “More and more exchanges and providers are offering reference data products, however, if you look at the data direct from the source, it has zero latency and has complete coverage. Not just the breadth of the coverage but also the depth of the data available, we cover everything from its real-time origin,” he contends.
