Cisco Systems has teamed with a group of market data feed handler, latency management and integration vendors to produce an early set of real world latency statistics for its recently introduced Nexus 3548 switch.

Apart from Cisco, the latency testing – which comprised a proof-of-concept implementation to show end-to-end latency validated with real-time market data from Nasdaq – involved:

– Enyx – providing Nasdaq data via its FPGA-based feed handler.
– TS-Associates – measuring latency for the test harness using its TipOff offering.
– Datacom Systems – allowing TipOff to be integrated into the test harness via its network test access point (TAP) technology.
– Universal E-Business Solutions – provided integration and hosting services, and access to live data.

The tests included exercising the Cisco switch in its Warp and Warp Span modes. The test harness and setup and results are documented in a white paper, downloadable from here.
