…While Rumours Persist of Reuters’ Purchase of Ecowin

Rumours have been circulating that Reuters is in negotiations to acquire Swedish data vendor Ecowin, with whom it recently entered a third-party distribution deal to integrate DataScope data into the Ecowin database (Reference Data Review, June 2005). Reuters is already a distributor of Ecowin’s economic data, and fees between the two vendors are essentially netted out. The acquisition of the company, founded in 1994, could be valued at between $100 million and $200 million.
