Vertex Analytics Offers Hosted Time Series Data, CEP

Chicago-based Vertex Analytics has unveiled ECHO, combining realtime and historic futures tick data with complex event processing (CEP) technology, delivered on either a client-installed or hosted service.

Initially, ECHO is offering data from the Chicago exchanges – the CME and CBOT – as well as from NYMEX and the IntercontinentalExchange, with history back to 2010, when Vertex began working on its offering.  The tick data is accessed via Vertex Helm, an easy to use interface for accessing customised datasets.  Integration of those datasets with Vertex’s CEP functionality makes it straightforward to test trading models and other algorithms.

Vertex was founded by CEO James Austin and CTO Sorel Aharoni, both of whom were core developers at Quantitative Analytics – acquired by Thomson Financial in 2007 and now part of Thomson Reuters.  Austin says the company already has both paying and beta customers for its service.

According to Austin, all of Vertex’s technology is proprietary, with its hosted offering being accessed via virtual private networks.   Installation at client sites is for those that are especially concerned about security, he adds.
