Talend, a global open source software leader, today announced that Peter Gyenes has joined its Board of Directors. With more than four decades of enterprise software and systems experience, Gyenes brings to Talend much relevant experience in scaling technology companies successfully.

“Peter brings deep expertise in data integration and a distinguished career in operational leadership, strategic vision and business execution to this board position,” said Bertrand Diard, CEO and co-founder of Talend. “He understands the customers and markets we serve and will be a valuable asset in Talend’s success as we continue to execute on our global growth strategy.”

Gyenes has served as the non-executive chairman of the board of directors at Sophos, a global security software company, since March 2006. He also served as chairman and CEO of Ascential Software Corporation and its predecessor companies VMark Software, Ardent Software and Informix until its acquisition by IBM in 2005. He directed the development and growth of Ascential Software from a niche software business to the market leader in data integration software through product and strategy differentiation and technology innovation. Previously, Gyenes was President and CEO of Racal Interlan, and served in global executive sales, marketing and general management positions at Data General Corporation, Encore Computer Corporation and Prime Computer, Inc. Earlier in his career, Gyenes held technical positions with Xerox Data Systems and IBM.

“I am delighted to join Talend’s Board of Directors,” said Gyenes. “Talend offers open, innovative and powerful software solutions with a compelling vision for a unified integration platform that brings together data management and application integration. This uniquely positions the company to provide superior value to customers and to partners in key growth markets including Cloud Computing and Big Data. I look forward to working with Talend’s management team and investor board members to help the company realise its vision and potential.”

Gyenes also serves on the board of Pegasystems, a global provider of Business Process Management software; Intralinks, a global SaaS provider of document and information exchanges; RealPage, a SaaS provider of software solutions to residential property managers and VistaPrint, a global e-commerce provider of marketing services to small businesses. Previously, he served on the board of Lawson Software, a global provider of enterprise software solutions; Netezza Corporation, a provider of data warehouse appliances; Applix, a provider of analytics software; BladeLogic, a provider of data centre automation software; and webMethods, a provider of Business Process Management software – each until their acquisitions by strategic buyers. Gyenes is a trustee emeritus of the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. He is a graduate of Columbia University, where he received both his B.A. in Mathematics and his M.B.A. degree.
