SunGard Upgrades Data Management Software

SunGard Data Management Solutions last month upgraded its data management software related to the distribution platform and data analysis toolkit. SunGard’s Web Services distribution platform accessPoint 1.5, which provides enterprise access to Fame and other relational data within referencePoint, has been enhanced to allow customers to output data to an extended set of formats. These include HTML, XML, ADO/XML, CSV, Fame TimeIQ Java objects and Java result sets. AccessPoint provides an extensible framework for creating modules that can be used to access proprietary, non-standard data types, and allows developers to retrieve, analyze and transform data without the need for complex programming by using Web Services.

Its Fame TimeIQ is a Java library component of Fame’s time-series database. It models time-series, case series, scalars and name lists in an object-oriented manner to facilitate data manipulation. The new release, version 2.1, adds features and performance enhancements, such as load balancing, for enterprise deployments of the database. A new ‘Exists’ method has been added to enable users to see if a series already exists; missing values codes are now available for name lists; and a ‘GenericRange’ class can represent a range to be applied to either a data or case series.
