SunGard Launches New Clearing Gateways for Post-trade Derivatives Solutions

Subscribe to our newsletter

In order to accommodate the changes going on in the area of derivatives clearing, SunGard is planning to launch a series of new derivatives clearing gateways throughout the course of this year for its post-trade derivatives processing solutions. Solutions such as GL Clearvision, GL Ubix and GMI will therefore include new integrated gateways in order to support increased trading volumes, says the vendor.

Vincent Burzynski, chief product officer for SunGard’s global trading business, explains the new gateways, which will replace the vendor’s current clearing gateways are aimed at providing better scalability, performance and efficiency. The gateways are being developed in Java, will be based on industry standards such as FIX messaging, and will be able to be rolled out in a number of different technical environments including Windows, Unix and Linux.

GL Clearvision, SunGard’s solution for matching and clearing, has been integrated with the first smart gateway, NYSE-Liffe US (cleared by the OCC). Four SunGard customers are already using the NYSE Liffe US smart gateway, says the vendor.

This new architecture will also be scalable so that multiple gateways can be installed for a single exchange to help support increased trading volumes. The smart gateways will be launched throughout 2009, replacing SunGard’s existing clearing gateways by early 2010.
