Snowflake Acquisition of Samooha Enhances Secure Data Collaboration

Subscribe to our newsletter

Snowflake is enhancing its ability to offer secure data collaboration backed by governance, privacy and data security following its recent acquisition of data clean room specialist Samooha. Built exclusively on Snowflake, Samooha offers both technical and business users product environments with industry specific workflows, as well as an intuitive product experience and interface that make it relatively easy to build data clean rooms that run natively in the Snowflake Data Cloud.

Building a data clean room from the ground up can be challenging and require technical expertise and significant investment. By prioritising ease of use, Samooha speeds up data clean room set-up and reduces complexity, while leveraging the built-in security and governance capabilities of Snowflake to ensure customer data is secure and governed.

Samooha previously partnered with Snowflake and collaborated to build a data clean room native application that allowed enterprises to achieve tangible business value with their data. Based on the Snowflake native app framework, Samooha clean rooms, backed by privacy enhancing technologies, now go beyond SQL queries to support machine learning and AI workloads that dig deeper into common enterprise data patterns.

The acquisition was concluded towards the end of December 2023 and sees Samooha’s co-founders and data privacy experts – CEO Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan and CTO Abhishek Bhowmick – joining the Snowflake team along with other Samooha employees.
