SmartStream Names Peter Moss as CEO of its Reference Data Utility

SmartStream Technologies has named Peer Moss, former head of Thomson Reuters Financial division, as CEO of its Reference Data Utility (RDU).

Moss joins the company after 25 years with Thomson Reuters, during which time he set up the Thomson Reuters Enterprise business, was responsible for the data and technology operations of the Financial Markets business and, most recently, led the $6 billion revenue Financial division. As CEO of the SmartStream RDU, Moss brings with him expertise in managing a large P&L business, experience of running operations and a safe pair of hands to carry the RDU forward.

The RDU was established by SmartStream and leading banks Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley. It is a managed service designed to deliver complete, accurate and timely reference data for regulatory reporting, trade processing and risk management, and reduces the costs of managing reference data for all bank participants.

The appointment of Moss to head up the RDU follows the arrival of Haytham Kaddoura as CEO of SmartStream in May and a change in role for Philippe Chambadal from CEO to president. As president, Chambadal took responsibility for strategic initiatives, at that time including the RDU, and anticipated acquisitions.

Commenting on his appointment, Moss says: “This is an exciting time for the RDU as we deliver the service for our customers. Industry demand for a reference data managed service has been significant and I can see excellent market potential for the RDU across a broad range of industry participants.”
