SIX has extended its provision of ESG data through a partnership with Urgentem, a provider of carbon emissions data and climate risk analytics. The data is available immediately and is expected to help SIX clients meet climate related requirements such as regulatory reporting of emissions data, tracking alignment to climate goals, and stress testing.

The partnership covers Urgentem’s emissions data set, which provides granular level carbon emissions data of the largest 5,000+ global companies with modelled data available for 30,000+ securities, as well as emission reduction targets and temperature score data sets. All data sets undergo quality assurance and data cleaning before application and are available to SIX clients via Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

SIX says its work with Urgentem is the next step in its strategy to help customers drive forward sustainable investing. “The benefit of this partnership with Urgentem for our clients is two-fold,” says Shai Popat, managing director content and product management, financial information at SIX. “As well as providing insights to help understand regulatory trends centred on carbon emissions, the data facilitates informed decision making of individual investors when it comes to understanding the impact of the entire supply chain.”

Girish Narula, CEO at Urgentem, adds: “Our data helps financial institutions with regulatory requirements, such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and supports the implementation of strategies in the move towards global climate-related targets.”
