Charles River Development (Charles River), a front- and middle-office investment management solutions provider, today announced that Rainier Investment Management (Rainier), an employee-owned investment firm with headquarters in Seattle, is live on the Charles River Data Service for reference data and real-time equity and fixed income market data. Rainier’s portfolio managers and traders receive data that is aggregated, mapped and fed directly into the Charles River Investment Management Solution (Charles River IMS), which they have used since 2006.

“The Charles River Data Service offers us a solution to increasing data costs and data management complexity,” said Ian Sale, Director of Information Technology, Rainier. “By utilizing Charles River’s data services, we now have a single point of contact for order management system data and software. The ‘one-stop shop’ model simplifies support and increases the value we get from Charles River IMS’s portfolio management and compliance functionality. Rainier has continually invested in technology to ensure the meticulous stewardship of our clients’ assets.  Upgrading to the latest version of Charles River IMS and implementing the Charles River Data Service has resulted in improved and timelier data for our portfolio managers and is a great example of such an investment.”

Charles River Data Service customers receive reference data in a single feed, aggregated from multiple data sources, including security reference, pricing/evaluation, and issuer data. Tight integration with Charles River IMS enables data updates overnight and throughout the day, as well as real-time security setup and custom data feeds based on clients’ specific business requirements.

“Data integration can be challenging, and gaps and discrepancies costly,” said Brad Haigis, Director, Data Services, Charles River. “We save clients money and take on the responsibility of monitoring the data feeds and properly mapping data into Charles River IMS, so they don’t have to think about it.”

The real-time data service streams market data directly into Charles River IMS, giving Rainier’s portfolio managers the pricing data necessary for real-time portfolio valuation and analysis, and enabling traders to best evaluate volatility and liquidity. Real-time data is available from more than 180 exchanges worldwide to meet global data needs.
