Omgeo Appoints Coughlan, Higgins and Meenaghan for European Product Support Roles

Post-trade specialist Omgeo has appointed three new executives its European product team: State Street’s Bill Meenaghan and Janet Coughlan and Steve Higgins, both from UBS. Coughlan is now in charge of strategic initiatives for the vendor’s web-based global database for the maintenance and communication of standing settlement and account instructions (SSIs), Omgeo Alert. Higgins and Meenaghan have both been appointed product managers.

According to the vendor, the appointments are part of its plans to strengthen its regional product offerings by getting closer to its customers. Steve Matthews, managing director of product for Omgeo, explains the rationale: “Omgeo’s product strategy is based upon three key areas of focus: adding new markets, asset classes, counterparties and client segments; increasing data quality; and enhancing the technology within our product set.”

All the new hires will report to Peter Hudson, director of product management, and Kimberly Matthews, executive director of product management. Hudson and Matthews are also fairly new hires; they both joined the vendor in the summer last year from Linedata Services and State Street Global Advisors, respectively.

Higgins will focus on Omgeo Central Trade Manager (CTM), whereas Coughlan and Meenaghan will both focus on the vendor’s data management offerings, in particular Omgeo Alert. Coughlan will have particular responsibility for advancing Omgeo’s quality data initiatives (QDI) for Omgeo Alert, says the vendor. Meenaghan will be responsible for providing regional leadership in Omgeo Alert’s launch activities for 2009. He will also be tasked with providing regional research and analysis to help inform the global roadmap with deliverables required to grow and enhance the SSI service, says Omgeo.

At UBS, Higgins was head of EMEA prime brokerage settlements, providing prime brokerage operational services to hedge fund clients. Prior to this, he was an assistant vice president at Credit Suisse in prime service operations.

Coughlan was a business consultant at UBS for 18 months, focused on improving STP rates for its cash securities business through focusing on activities such as instruction processing and use of client data. Prior to this, she was a vice president at Credit Suisse where she led multi-functional teams implementing, developing and testing new projects, as well as managing the strategic exception processing stream for component architecture.

At State Street Global Advisers, Meenaghan worked for five years, latterly as trade administration manager running the trade support teams for equity, fixed income, foreign exchange and money markets. Before this, he was an investment services manager, responsible for the cash and money market team and the trade support teams.
