NYSE Technologies To Introduce Market Data Analytics Lab

NYSE Technologies is rolling out its Market Data Analytics Lab (MDAL), providing hosted access to its historical trade and quote (TAQ) data, with the ability to perform analytics on the hosted data.

MDAL will allow users to query selections of the entire TAQ database – for now covering U.S. markets – and perform analytics, downloading just the results to their own systems in different formats.

The existing TAQ service provides access to just the entire data set via FTP.  Using MDAL, users will be able to focus on analysing the data for business benefit and not on building the costly infrastructure required to download and store large volumes of data.

Says Brian Fuller, business development manager for global market data at NYSE Technologies, MDAL offers web browser access to a “complex range of analytical and quantitative capabilities.”  Examples might be VWAP and best execution analytics.  Once analytics are performed, the requisite data only can be accessed via an API or downloaded in a common format, such as Microsoft Excel.
