NICE Actimize Integrates Generative AI into SURVEIL-X for Enhanced Conduct Surveillance

NICE Actimize, the financial crime, risk, and compliance solutions vendor, has introduced an update to its SURVEIL-X Holistic Conduct Surveillance platform by integrating Generative AI capabilities through Actimize Intelligence. The enhancement is intended to improve the detection of market abuse and conduct risks, offering financial institutions additional tools to monitor employee communications more effectively.

The new functionality applies large language models (LLMs) to assess the full context of communications. Unlike traditional rule-based systems that rely primarily on keyword identification, Actimize Intelligence incorporates analysis of tone, sentiment, jargon, and intent, aiming to differentiate more precisely between suspicious and legitimate interactions.

The new capabilities are expected to reduce false positives by up to 85% while identifying up to four times more instances of actual misconduct compared to conventional surveillance methods. Actimize Intelligence also supports analysis in over 150 languages, providing summarised results and clear explanations of flagged communications, including specific misconduct types such as insider dealing, market manipulation, and collusion.

Chris Wooten, EVP, Vertical Markets at NICE comments: “The integration of Actimize Intelligence and its generative AI capabilities into SURVEIL-X marks a significant leap forward in conduct risk detection and surveillance. Our proven AI technology and trusted SURVEIL-X surveillance solution empower compliance professionals to identify true risks with unprecedented accuracy and efficiency, while dramatically reducing the workload associated with false positives. With more than two decades of experience in financial services and a vast knowledge base, we are taking communications surveillance to the next level and delivering on the promise of AI.”

By combining AI-driven communication monitoring with trade and transaction surveillance, the integration is aimed at helping firms move from reactive compliance practices toward a more proactive approach to risk management. The solution is designed to identify patterns of potential misconduct while maintaining operational efficiency, supporting a broader trend toward unified platforms that manage both structured and unstructured data.

SURVEIL-X is positioned as a conduct surveillance solution for a range of market participants, including buy-side and sell-side firms, insurance companies, crypto exchanges, and regulators. In addition to communication monitoring, it features case management tools, automated trade reconstruction, and other workflow enhancements intended to streamline investigation processes.

As part of NICE’s Compliancentral platform, SURVEIL-X integrates communication and trading activity capture, archiving, and surveillance into a single environment. The integration of Generative AI into the platform reflects broader industry efforts to incorporate advanced technologies into compliance operations, supporting firms’ efforts to address regulatory requirements and manage evolving risks in increasingly complex financial markets.
