Keysight and Instrumentix Partner to Enhance Trade Visibility in Financial Markets

Through a partnership with Instrumentix, the latency and flow monitoring solutions specialists, Keysight Technologies, Inc. has expanded its financial capital markets portfolio by introducing a trade monitoring solution designed to address inefficiencies in trade execution and market data performance. The collaboration integrates Instrumentix’s xMetrics flow monitoring and analytics platform with Keysight’s network visibility tools, offering financial institutions a unified approach to real-time monitoring and analytics.

The solution aims to resolve challenges stemming from the fragmented nature of visibility into trading activities and market data, which often lead to operational inefficiencies and missed opportunities. By combining xMetrics’ deep trade flow insights with Keysight’s high-speed network packet brokers (NPBs) capable of monitoring 400Gbps of line-rate market data feeds, the platform enables firms to optimise trade execution, detect and resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure seamless operations across trading networks.

“We work extensively with hedge funds, high-frequency traders, Tier 1 investment banks, and global exchange groups,” says Kevin Formby, VP Finance and Capital Markets at Keysight, in conversation with TradingTech Insight. “However, what was missing from our offering was a robust trade analytics solution. Over the past four to five years, we’ve collaborated successfully with Instrumentix, whose xMetrics product is arguably the best on the market. We already share several joint customers, so it made sense to integrate xMetrics into our portfolio, leveraging Keysight’s global resources. We’ve started training our sales teams to offer xMetrics as part of our trading infrastructure solutions, and we’ll provide full global support for the product.”

Key features of the integrated solution include real-time market data and order flow monitoring, multicast gap detection, time synchronisation, and advanced analytics. These capabilities are accessible via a unified dashboard, allowing users to quickly identify and address issues while reducing data centre resource requirements.

“One of the standout advantages of xMetrics is its flexibility—it can run on commodity hardware, which we help customers size during a proof of concept or evaluation phase, or it can be deployed on partner products such as those offered by Keysight,” says Clive Posselt, Commercial Director at Instrumentix. “This approach, which provides customers with end-to-end visibility, from optical paths and tap aggregators right through to  trade plant performance monitoring and analytics, is an industry first.”

Available globally, the xMetrics software can be deployed independently or fully integrated with Keysight’s Vision 400 Network Packet Brokers, providing financial institutions with a scalable solution that provides critical visibility into trade execution and infrastructure performance.

Steve Hicks, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Instrumentix, comments: “Integrating xMetrics for execution analysis with network packet brokers capable of monitoring 400Gbps of line-rate market data feeds creates a powerful solution. This enables capital markets players to verify execution efficiency, ensure customer experience, and improve their operational performance.”
