EDM Vendor m35 Launches New Version of DataTrans Solution with Focus on Risk

Enterprise risk management system vendor m35 has launched a new version of its DataTrans solution aimed at the enterprise data management (EDM) market. Version 3.5 of its flagship product, which is used to distribute data from multiple sources to downstream systems, features a new data management dashboard and improved user interfacing, says the vendor.

Gavin Kaimowitz, product manager at m35, explains that the solution is aimed at supporting financial institutions’ risk processes in light of the increased regulatory scrutiny in the market. “The economic downturn has highlighted the importance of data management and managing risk has been pushed into the spotlight. This release introduces features which are geared towards businesses meeting the challenges of 2009: risk management, successful STP, reducing cost and increasing efficiency,” he elaborates. The solution is used to distribute data from multiple sources, including market data, securities masters and business applications, to other downstream systems. DataTrans 3.5 builds on these existing capabilities by intelligently identifying data items moving through the system and associate them to a standard data model, claims the vendor. This makes it easy for business users to build rules defining how data is distributed throughout the organisation and users are able to articulate their requirements using drop-down boxes, with no need for programming. Version 3.5 therefore makes it easier and faster to distribute data and ensure data quality, says Kaimowitz. A key addition to the solution is the data management dashboard, which provides a customised display of real-time business intelligence from the data distribution architecture. This enables businesses to see what data is moving through the organisation and view real-time reconciliation reports, data quality indicators and exceptions, says the vendor. Using the dashboard, organisations can track data movements in real-time to ensure the right data is getting to the right place at the right time. Jason du Preez, managing director of m35, concludes: “This new age of EDM demands efficiency and increased automation. No longer is it just about holding golden copy, it’s about liberating data, and making it easily available, securely and consistently, to all parts of the business.”
