Sholthana Begum, senior advisor and head of division at the Bank of England, and a popular A-Team Group Summit speaker, has left the bank after a 16-year career. Moving on, she will join the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as head of the data and data strategy department.
Begum joined the Bank of England in 2006 as a financial analyst, before becoming business partner – performance and strategy, turning her expertise to management accounting, data analytics, risk, and technology and, previous to her final role, head of RegTech, data and innovation at the bank.
Her key activities at the Bank of England have included leading on RegTech and SupTech, and working with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) on its exploration of machine learning, AI, analytics, architecture and visualisation.
Sharing a farewell note on LinkedIn, Begum said: “It has been an absolute honour to serve for the public for over 16 years. Along the way, I have gone through a journey of personal and professional growth. My biggest privilege has been to work with, meet, and lead so many talented people. So with courage and faith I am very pleased to say that my journey with #data and #technology continues.”
At the FCA, Begum hopes to make the regulator ‘more innovative, assertive and data led’.
