Actuate Corporation and ClusterSeven have signed a joint marketing agreement, under which the vendors will work together to tout their spreadsheet management solutions to the market as compliance and risk management enablers. The vendors have therefore combined their respective offerings, Actuate’s eSpreadsheet and ClusterSeven’s Enterprise Spreadsheet Manager, to gain extra clout in the tough economic climate.

This is the latest in the spate of smaller vendors linking up to strengthen their marketing and sales efforts in the market, as firms slash their budgets and scrutinise vendors more closely.

According to the vendors, the combined offering delivers spreadsheet production, maintenance, archiving, security, data integrity and compliance with improved productivity, flexibility and document lifecycle management. Nobby Akiha, senior vice president of marketing at Actuate, explains. “Our agreement is timely, as we can now provide a solution that ensures our customers are not vulnerable to data irregularities and meet heightened standards of compliance without interrupting user familiarity and productivity.”

ClusterSeven claims that the solution is designed to help meet regulations and maintain compliance for users of Actuate’s eSpreadsheet that design, generate and distribute information as interactive spreadsheets. In addition, ClusterSeven says it allows eSpreadsheet customers to free up corporate resources spent on meeting regulatory criteria while saving costs and reducing the likelihood of fines.

Ralph Baxter, CEO of ClusterSeven, adds: “Our unique, non-invasive file watching capabilities allow users to retain all the familiarity and flexibility of their spreadsheets while data veracity and transparency are assured.”
