I am here in the lovely town of Newport, RI for this year’s World Financial Information Congress. Very much enjoying my stay at the quaint and historic Jail House Inn, just a few minutes walk across the causeway to where the conference is taking place – a Hyatt that looks much like a parking garage from a distance.
Lots of familiar faces in attendance – it’s like a smaller version of Sifma in a nicer place – and some sessions today and tomorrow covering that hot topic of the moment, namely low latency. I’ll be reporting back on what I see and hear.
Last week’s High Performance on Wall Street event in NYC was a blast. Somewhere around 800 people showed up, and the sessions were full all day long. A number of companies put out press releases at the show, including Stac, which announced the formation of their benchmark council. A while back, I blogged on the subject of benchmarks, calling for some standards to be set, and it looks like this initiative is set to do just that. We hope to follow its progress and encourage all that are eligible to get involved.
Until next time … here’s some great music.
