What’s New in Trading Technology? Upcoming Summit Hits all the Right Notes

At a time when the future of the EU trading environment is unclear, bringing together the European trading technology community could not be more critical. On 25 February, A-Team Group’s TradingTech Summit will convene for its ninth year to unite senior industry experts, practitioners, providers and observers in a high intensity forum to examine the latest concerns, highlight best practices, review new technologies, and explore the regulatory challenges facing the industry.

The event, to be held at Hilton London Tower Bridge, will focus on the post-Brexit trading environment, as well as moving to the cloud, optimising infrastructure outsourcing and the challenges of market data in 2020.

This year’s line-up of speakers is stellar, beginning with Dr. David P Doyle, EU Policy Adviser, Financial Services Regulation; EU Policy Director, The Genesis Initiative and Member of the Board of the Kangaroo Group (Brussels). With the summit taking place just one month after leaving the EU, we will look at how the industry is adjusting and the outlook for the next 12 months. Dr. Doyle will share views on what trading firms in London can expect in the post-Brexit regulatory space and what’s in store from planned revisions to MiFID II. He will answer questions around whether the EU will operate under two different regulatory regimes or evolve toward a smooth Equivalence Regime. He will also discuss what other EU regulatory initiatives are in the pipeline for 2020. His keynote will be followed up by a panel of thought leaders to answer questions about trading in the post Brexit environment.

For firms moving forward, the cloud can play a crucial role in enabling organisations to have control over costs, scalability, efficiency and customer service. Ashok Kalyanswmany, CIO at Saxo Bank, will engage in a keynote fireside chat with Rachel Przybylski, Head of Regulatory Quality Assurance, Trading Platforms and Core Technology at Man Group. Their discussion will allow Ashok to share Saxo’s experience and challenges with cloud implementation as well as factors in choosing a provider and pitfalls to avoid.

One of the biggest issues facing financial institutions right now, according to the A-Team Group TTS Advisory Board, is the critical need for organisations to focus on what they’re good at in-house and leave the rest to an expert. Panelists from Coremont, Northern Trust Capital Markets and Fixnetix will discuss the pros and cons of infrastructure outsourcing for non-core services, taking a strategic approach and what to look for in an outsourcing partner. How to manage control and accountability when outsourcing as well as how outsourcing means a competitive advantage will also be key elements of the panel’s discussion.

The day will round out with experts from Deutsche Bank, Nomura, NatWest Markets and Steeleye discussing how market data is impacting the trading environment today. With increasing volumes and need for market data, new challenges such as accessing market data via the cloud, licensing in a digital world and how alternative data shapes market data sourcing are all critical topics to be covered.

As financial institutions prepare to move forward after Brexit, the trading technology community must work together to answer critical questions facing the industry. TradingTech Summit London is the perfect opportunity to engage at the highest levels, network with other senior practitioners and evaluate new products and innovations available to meet increasing regulatory demands.

Registrations are pouring in, speakers are prepping and plans are finalising for what is rapidly stacking up to be a not-to-be-missed day of thought-provoking content. The day will end with A-Team Group awarding the TradingTech Insight Europe Industry Awards to the best of the best, as well as a networking reception to celebrate. Join us for the conversations, stay for the champagne!
