RIMES Releases ESG Data Management Solution, Adds Fitch ESG Scores to Data Sources

RIMES has released an ESG data management solution powered by its managed data services platform and offering asset managers data needed to evaluate the sustainable credentials of any asset. The solution is based on ESG data sourced from a number of vendors including MSCI, OWL analytics, FTSE Russell, Sustainalytics, J.P. Morgan and, most recently, Fitch Solutions.

The aim of the RIMES solution is to help asset managers find, understand and trust the ESG data they need to identify truly sustainable assets in a market that, as yet, has no global standardised ESG disclosure requirements. It provides a fully managed, end-to-end cloud-based service that offers transparent and actionable ESG data through the use of a vendor agnostic library of ESG sources, cross-referencing and harmonisation across sources, mapping from issuer to issue, and a suite of desktop and analytics tools.

Elisabeth Seep, ESG product manager at RIMES, says: “ESG integration is no longer a nice-to-have. Any firm that is serious about long-term success needs to be addressing ESG now and ensuring that it has in place robust data management and reporting capabilities required to provide clients and regulators transparency within portfolios and products regarding E, S, G and climate factors.”

RIMES’ recent partnership with Fitch Solutions will make Fitch Ratings ESG Relevance Scores available to the ESG data management solution. These scores monitor the credit risk related to ESG factors for entities and transactions rated by the ratings service, and are designed to provide a transparent and comprehensible view of which issues are material and relevant to a credit assessment. They are based on over 140,000 data points that cover more than 10,000 issuers and transactions in the service. Data points include an overall ESG Relevance Score, individual E, S and G scores and 14 or 15 sub-scores depending on the sector.

Joo-Yung Lee, managing director of credit intelligence at Fitch Solutions, explains: “Fixed income ESG data has been disparate, difficult to obtain and hard to work with. Our goal is to solve this challenge and provide clients with a transparent and easily comprehensible view of ESG credit risk factors. RIMES is an important partner, helping us get our data to users rapidly and in a format that is ready for immediate use.”

Alessandro Ferrari, CMO at RIMES, comments: “With ESG fast becoming one of the most important investment factors, we are committed to providing our clients with the data they need to make the best decisions every time.”
